New Grants and Funding Options In California, Nevada, and Utah

This week, we are featuring grant and loan options for the states that Ryder (our CEO) drives through. In this post, we will highlight a few options that are available to small businesses in California, Nevada, and Utah.

California Grants
If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner in California, here are grant and funding programs that are currently available.
- $40K Grants in Los Angeles for Small Business Rent Relief: The Small Business Rent Relief program offers grants up to $40K to help eligible businesses who have been unable to pay rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To be eligible, businesses must have a physical location in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, have nine employees or fewer, annual total gross revenues of no more than $1 million, and demonstrate a gross revenue loss of at least 25% over a 12-month time frame since March 4, 2020. The deadline to apply is November 24, 2021, at 5 pm.
- $150K Investment For San Francisco Entrepreneurs: If you are a tech entrepreneur in the city by the bay (San Francisco), apply today to the 500 Global Flagship Accelerator Program. Those who are accepted into this program receive a $150K investment in return for a 6% stake in the business, hands-on support, networking, enrollment in an MBA-like program, and more. Applications for this program are accepted year-round.
- Grants For Business In San Diego County: The Small Business Stimulus Grant is open to businesses in San Diego County. To be eligible, businesses must be for-profit, have 20 or fewer employees (including ind. contractors), be based in San Diego County, and be in operation for a year as of February 14, 2020. Grants amounts will vary based on the need of the business and availability of funds. The deadline is currently not posted.
Opportunities For Nevada Businesses
We were unable to find open small business grants for the state of Nevada, but here are a couple of opportunities if you have a business in Nevada or are looking to open one in Nevada.
- Nevada State Business Incentives: The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), offers a variety of incentives to help qualifying companies decide to do business in the state of NV. Incentives include Sales and Use Tax Abatement down to 2%, Modified Business Tax Abatement, Personal Property Tax and Real Property Tax Abatement up to 50% for 10 years,
- Small Business Loans: If you are looking for a small business loan or other financing options, check out Nevada State Bank. They offer 60-month term loans, SBA-backed loans, equipment financing, business lines of credit, and more.
Utah Grant and Funding Options
There are two main funding opportunities available for businesses in the state of Utah. As we find more, we'll post them on our app.
- Utah Small Business Vaccination Grant: The Small Business Employee Vaccination Grant offers capital to employers who provide paid time off for employees who are not eligible for paid time off. The grant may be used for both full-time and part-time employees to do the following: receive a Covid-19 vaccine or take a dependent (5-18) to get theirs, or recuperate after receiving the vaccine or help a dependent recuperate from their vaccine. Other requirements apply.
- Emergency Capital Investment Program: The Emergency Capital Investment Program (ECIP) was created to encourage low- and moderate-income community financial institutions to support small businesses and consumers in their communities. A total of $9 billion was dedicated to certified Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) or minority depository institutions (MDIs) to provide loans, grants, and other assistance for Utah small businesses. Contact the CDFI or MDI closest to you for more details on open grants and loan options.
