This grant is all about your story — and how clearly you communicate your business’s purpose, impact, and potential. Applications will be scored based on four key areas, each tied to one of the short-answer questions you'll complete in the application.
Here’s what we’re evaluating:
1. Clarity of Business Purpose
We're looking for a clear, easy-to-understand explanation of what your business does. Can you describe your product or service in a way that anyone — even someone unfamiliar with your industry — can grasp? We want to see focus and a strong sense of identity.
What makes a strong answer:
- Clear articulation of what your business offers
- What makes it unique or valuable
- Who you serve
2. Impact of the $10K Grant
We want to see exactly how you’d use the funding — and why it matters. This isn’t about being flashy; it’s about being strategic. A strong response shows you’ve thought about how this grant fits into your growth path.
What makes a strong answer:
- Specific, practical uses for the funds
- How this use will help you grow or solve a key challenge
- A sense of urgency or readiness
3. Customer Value & Impact
We’re looking for businesses that truly help people — whether that’s through time savings, increased access, improved well-being, or something else. Show us how your customers benefit from your work.
What makes a strong answer:
- A compelling example or story
- Evidence of customer satisfaction or success
- A clear link between your service and its impact
4. Awareness of Growth Obstacles & Plans to Overcome Them
Every business faces hurdles. What matters is whether you’ve thought through yours — and how you plan to tackle them. We’re looking for realism, resilience, and foresight.

- A proactive, thoughtful plan to address it
- Insight into how you’re positioning for long-term success

The Skip team will personally read every application and select a winner based on the quality of responses to the four areas above. We're looking for:

What Happens After You Apply?
You’ll receive a confirmation email after submitting your application. We’ll announce the $10K Memorial Day Grant winner by the end of June via email and on a YouTube live. (Yes, you’ll want to subscribe 👀.)
If selected, we’ll reach out directly to confirm your business details and issue the $10K grant.
