- Proof of Social Security Number

- Go to the Vermont DMV license renewal website.
- Type in your last name, date of birth, license number and Social Security Number.
- Pay the fee as the system shown.

Here are Vermont driver's license renewal exceptions to note:
- If you have a Driving Privilege Card (DPC) and wish to upgrade to a Real ID Compliant Driver’s License or, Non-Enhanced Driver's License and want to upgrade to an Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) you must renew in person and you will need documentation to establish identity.
- You should receive a renewal notice by mail approximately 30 days before your driver's license expires.
- If you do not receive your renewal application, you must complete form VL-021 to renew your license.
- You may renew by mail if your license photo was taken within the last 4 years and is not a Commercial Driver's License.
